A Visionary's Quest - Paperback Proof

Today I received the paperback version of A Visionary's Quest. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the book. I started flipping through the pages and wouldn't you know it, I found an error. I'm sure there are more, so I better get busy reading and making it as perfect as I can.

I took some pictures since this is my first hard copy publication. I had the paperback printed by CreateSpace. Here are a few photos:

A Visionary's Quest - Paperback

Today I was working on getting my files set up for print-on-demand paperbacks for those of you that don't have e-readers. However, it is possible to download a free kindle reader and read the book on your computer.

The paperback process is a little different than the e-book process. I had to tweak some of the pages, mess around with page numbers, upload the files and front cover, and create a back cover. I'm using CreateSpace to do this. I'm waiting for file approval and then I'll be ordering a proof so I can read through the book. Hopefully I'll catch whatever I missed.

I don't think that any book is perfect. Every time I look at the book, I find something else wrong. If any of you read the book and can point out any errors, I will definitely fix them.

So another new adventure.

A Visionary's Quest - What's the Story About?

A Visionary's Quest is a story that begins in February 1986 about a young Romanian who lives in Bucharest. He lost his parents and was raised by his grandparents. He has a long relationship with a schoolmate he met at a young age.

He has several dreams of becoming a talent scout or so he thinks. He goes through school and gets a job as a waiter along with some other odd jobs but is not happy in his current situation.

On his 21st birthday he receives a letter that was written by his mother. After receiving the news in the letter, he begins his search, but his immediate focus is to find new talent so he can make a good life for himself. His grandparents pass away and he takes on a job in the United States as a talent scout.

During his quest, he comes across some unexpected surprises, and ties his dreams to his discoveries. He is at a point in his life where he needs to make some important decisions to make his life complete.

A Visionary's Quest Coming Out Soon

I'm on my last steps of getting the book ready to publish. I'm a first-time fiction author who hopes to at least  learn something from this experience, and I plan to write more stuff, both fiction and non-fiction.

A Visionary's Quest is a fiction drama based on some of my own personal experiences. It will be published on the Amazon platform as an e-book soon.

My First Fiction

My current project has been a fiction. I was sitting with my mom one day playing rummy, as we usually do, and this crazy idea came into my head. Why not write a book and see what happens. I am by no means a writer so I figured what the heck, it can't hurt to try.

So I started with an outline in April and one thing led to another. Now, it is December and I have set a deadline to self-publish the book by Christmas. So far, I'm on track. Deadlines are good for writers or at least for me. I have heard many times that people work on books for many years. Well, I want to get on to the next project so I set a deadline for myself.

It'll take some marketing time to get my book noticed so it may be awhile until my next project starts but I'm always thinking about what to write about next. I haven't decided if it will be another novel, a short story, or a non-fiction. I might go another route this time while I wait for feedback on my first novel. It will be a good learning experience to correct any issues that might be found.

The Home Buying Process

After I wrote 69 Tips for a Real Estate Agent to Know, I figured I know the home buying process so why not write about it. Then I wrote another e-book entitled, The Home Buying Process. The book cover is not very pretty but the information will get you on the right track to purchase a home.

The e-book includes the following topics:

  • Is Now the Right Time to Buy a Home?
  • Repeat Home Buyers
  • New Home Expenses
  • Home Mortgage Loan Pre-approval
  • House Location and Property Type
  • Searching for a Home
  • Type of Home Sale
  • Submitting an Offer on a Home
  • Escrow Period When Purchasing a Home
  • Home Purchase Inspections and Disclosures
  • Moving into Your New Home
  • New Homeowner Tax Benefits

69 Tips for a Real Estate Agent to Know - E-book

Since being a real estate agent for 10 years, I picked up a few tips that might be beneficial to a new agent. I put together an e-book entitled, 69 Tips for a Real Estate Agent to Know.

The following are the topics covered in the e-book:
  • Getting Started
  • Selecting a Broker
  • Working with Your Broker
  • Working with Other Real Estate Agents
  • Necessary Real Estate Agent Tools
  • Prospecting
  • Your Past Clients
  • Internet Marketing
  • Dealing with Sales Vendors
  • Working with Buyers
  • Working with Sellers
  • Sales Contracts
  • Working with Lenders
  • Title and Escrow
  • Your Income
  • Your Expenses
  • Explore Other Ways to Use Your Real Estate License
  • Renewing Your License
  • Becoming a Broker
  • In Closing

My Writing Background

Coming from a real estate background, I have written a couple of non-fiction e-books. I'll write about those in a later post. They were fun projects and I discovered that I wanted to write some more.

I'm not the best writer but hopefully with practice, I'll get better. I've written a few ezine articles and plan to do more of those. I also joined some sites where I can make a few bucks for blog entries and such. Typically, I only do the ones where I'm pretty comfortable with the topic, otherwise it takes too much time to do research, and of course that cuts into how much you make. My latest project is a general fiction that will be out soon.

Below are some of my ezine articles:

Introduction

So this is my first post. This blog was created to talk about my fiction and non-fiction books including successes, challenges, and struggles as a new writer.

There are probably other new authors out there as well, so chime in anytime. We could learn from each other.
